Google adwords is a funny topic on one side you have people deathly afraid of opening up an adwords account. Due to the horror stories of  affiliate marketers  losing money. On the other side are the ones who have mastered adwords, making a killing just using PPC. But there is one common thread that links all marketers in the world of adwords . That thread is that everyone loses money at one time using this paid marketing medium.

But the truth is trial and error has never been as warranted within other marketing mediums as it is with adwords. If you test your ad groups over & over eventually you will see the return your looking for. A great example of this is I tested out a campaign for 1 month I invested $1,000. What I did was test test test to see what was the best response for my marketing dollars.  I lost around 250 bucks testing in the beginning before I cracked the code the next $750 can back 4 times that. That first $250 was my slush investment I was planning on spending the whole $1,000 for testing. But surprisingly only a couple hundred was needed, So the next 750 or so went into the best performing ad groups.   Since then the result is the same month after month. So what I’m trying to get at is too test till it works test keywords, ad copy just about everything that is involved within your campaigns.

You have to invest and be willing to lose a couple bucks before making a lot. Just as brick & motar business’s suffer a loss their first year, as an affiliate marketer you need to take a loss in the early stages before having success.

This is the best way you should go about it expect to lose a little, but monitor why did you lose. Make simple changes till it’s perfect. Now some people don’t have money to test so free methods still work greatly. But for those who can invest then it is highly recommended to help build your affiliate marketing money.

First things first 85% of my traffic from any of my ventures comes from free traffic. Simply by perfecting the SEO region of the internet. But there are paid methods that can continually build your affiliate marketing money if you know how to leverage them.

What are media buys? Media buys are purchasing banner space on high traffic websites, blogs even forums. How it works is that you would typically pay per thousand visits, which means for every 1 thousand visitors you would pay the predetermined agreed price. Most cases you will pay only 50 cents per thousand impressions depending on where you’re advertising. Now this marketing niche is very different from PPC, PPC is all about per click but CPM is all about the impressions. No matter how many people click your banner you still only pay for the impression. A perfect example is that I recently ran a Cpa offer on the myspace advertising network. This one campaign had over 300,000 impressions that resulted in 2,345 clicks in a 48 hour period. Total price was around 50 bucks. The bottom line is that once you know how you can easily add media buys into to your overall affiliate marketing attack.

But! You still have to implement market research as well as knowing where to get the best banner ad placements. One problem that I see with young marketers is that they never target their audience when using media buys. This is what I call a bone head move for sure! You have to know your demographic when promoting. For instance you wouldn’t want to promote affiliate marketing to a MLM crowd. So before you buy any advertising you want to do a demographic search on the website you plan on placing your banner ads.
